Ventura County Surf Forecast – Weekend Waves – New NW swell peaks
The Swell
NW swell (290-300) and some residual SW energy will hold into Saturday morning. New NW swell (285-290) will build in through the day, eventually peaking overnight into Sunday morning.
Saturday Morning
Sunday Morning
Waves
On Saturday look for most exposed spots to hold in the waist-chest high range with a few shoulder high sets showing at the top spots through the dawn patrol. The new NW’er will start driving up size by the afternoon, particularly as the tide drops, and we can expect the average spots to move into the chest-shoulder high range, while the top spots see head high+ sets by the end of the day.
Sunday the NW swell will peak…pushing the average NW facing breaks into the chest-head high range while the standout NW spots see consistent shoulder-head high+ surf and sets going overhead+ on the better tides…probably even a few bigger sets showing as the swell peaks in the morning.
Winds
Saturday will see N winds in the 10 knot range for the morning with some stronger gusts near the passes and canyons that end at the beach. Look for NW winds around 10-15 knots by the afternoon.
Sunday will be cleaner with NE winds around 10-14 knots for the morning. Winds shift around to the W-WSW by the afternoon but stay on the lighter side…it may stay rideable (not clean) through the afternoon but still expect some bump.
