We will have some fading WNW-NW swell in the water on Thursday. Surf will hold around knee-waist high+ for most of the average exposed breaks while the standout NW spots see some chest-shoulder high sets on the lower tides.
Winds will be good with mostly E winds around 10-14 knots for the morning but possibly some gusty 20 knot conditions setting up near passes and canyons. Look for variable winds…mostly below 10-knots on tap for the afternoon.

Ventura Surf Forecast - For Tuesday - 1/26/10

Another decent sized WNW swell moves in on Tuesday. Average W facing spots move back into the shoulder-overhead range while the standout NW breaks see consistent head high to a few feet overhead on the bigger sets. Shape will be a little slow through the morning…but it should improve through midmorning as the tide drops. Not sure how long the winds will hold through the morning either…you might want to weigh the tide vs the wind at some point just so you don’t miss out.
Winds will be out of the E-ESE through the morning…lots of spots seeing 10-15+ knots but with some stronger 20+ knot gusts at times. Expect rain and cool air temps as well. Look for winds to shift more to the straight S by later in the day…so junky conditions in many areas by the afternoon.

Ventura County Surf Forecast – Thursday – You suck wind
The Swell
Thursday will start off with mostly leftover NW energy (290-300), very minimal SW swell, and some slowly building local NW windswell. The windswell will keep building in slowly through the 2nd part of the day, eventually peaking overnight into Friday.
Waves
Look for mostly knee-knee high+ surf at the average spots through the morning. NW facing standouts will see knee-waist high waves fairly consistently with a few bigger sets at the top NW windswell spots. Look for building onshore winds and some sloppy waist-chest high+ windswell lines on tap by the evening.
Winds
Light to moderate NW winds start off early…not totally blowing it out but enough to get some bump on things during the dawn patrol. Look for NW winds 10-15+ knots by lunchtime and some gusts hitting 20+ knots by the afternoon/evening. Scattered showers possible by the afternoon as well.
