Ventura Surf Forecast - Waves for the Weekend - 1/16 - 1/17/10

Make sure to read the full region forecast...it will help this one make sense, (Not promising any miracles though). Click here for the full forecast www.socalsurf.com.

The W-WNW swell mix (275-300) will hold into Saturday and then mix with a new WNW pulse (280-300) that arrives on Sunday…both are coming in from pretty good directions for Ventura so expect waves showing at pretty much all of the usual winter standouts.

Sizewise we can expect surf in the shoulder-head high range with inconsistent overhead sets at the average WNW facing spots. Top WNW-NW spots will be running in the shoulder-overhead range with inconsistent sets going a couple of feet+ overhead on the lower tides.

Look for clean conditions with E winds around 10-15+ knots for the morning and some gusts near 20+ knots near passes and canyons. It will be pretty chilly in the morning but hopefully it will warm up through the middle of the day. Look for light and variable winds through the afternoon…likely keeping things pretty surfable throughout the day.

Weatherwise look for light and variable winds through early Saturday and only marginal onshore flow for the afternoon. Sunday will start out with light/variable winds as well but S-SSE winds and increasingly cloudy skies will move in through the afternoon. Rain will be coming as well but it looks like heavy stuff will start after sundown.
